Our Mission

To gain a greater appreciation and understanding for our roles as servants, not only in our communities but, also to those abroad.

With this in mind, our vehicles to impact lives domestically and around the world will be field construction, equipment donations, instructional clinics, and a variety of community service projects. We commit to moving forward in this effort to serve others while gaining invaluable life experiences that will help shape young men and women in our communities for lasting impact for years to come.
We seek lasting impact by developing both domestic and abroad leadership programs to encourage long-term success not just on the field but in life. Our goals will always include, inspiring people to embrace putting others ahead of themselves, and know that by doing this, their lives will have a much greater purpose. This will in turn empower others to achieve more than they ever imagined possible. We truly believe by doing this, we will SERVE to LEAD!

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Meet The Founder

Tim Fanning has been in education for 23 years. In 18 years as a Head Baseball Coach at Glenwood HS in Phenix City, AL; he has won 8 State Championships and as an Athletic Director amassed 33 State Championships in six different sports. During this time, he has coached numerous All-Americans, had nationally ranked teams and sent 84 of his former players on to play at the collegiate or professional level. Coach Fanning is also the Founder of “Serve to Lead”, a non-profit organization that uses athletics and Christ as vehicles to impact lives domestically and around the world through field construction, equipment donations, instructional clinics, bible distribution and community service volunteering in hopes of inspiring a new generation of servant leaders.
He was raised by a single mother in Columbus, GA where she instilled in him at a young age, that a life worth living starts by serving something bigger than yourself. With that strength of encouragement from home, he overcame impoverished circumstances, physical and mental abuse outside the home to finish near the top of his class in high school, then go on to play college and professional baseball and receive his Master’s Degree in Sports and Fitness Management.

His most recent battle has been with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. During this journey, he has inspired a community by continuing his life-long ambition of serving something greater than himself while facing, seemingly insurmountable odds. Tim Fanning currently resides in Smiths Station, Alabama and is surrounded by his loving wife Renee and his two beautiful daughters, Brianna and Macie.

Testimonials

“Coach Tim Fanning’s latest book, Serve to Lead 2, continues to shine light on who and what is important in life. And believe me, it’s not always what this world wants you to believe. His faith, coupled with his numerous mission trips and then his intense battle with cancer, has given him a unique perspective that we can all learn from and aspire to reach. This book inspires the heck out of me and I’m so blessed to call Coach Fanning my friend.” (Tim Hudson, 17 year MLB veteran, 4-time All-Star, Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame)

“Tim – thank you for sharing God’s path for your life with the world. What a great motivation for those who want to make a difference and are looking for a purpose. Tim’s journey reminds us of the influential people in our lives and how impactful small acts of kindness can have on people we interact with daily. I personally picked up lessons throughout to share and enjoyed hearing how God has worked through Tim as a coach, father, husband and missionary. SERVE TO LEAD 2 has refocused my intention to be a better servant and more yielding to God’s perfect plan.” (Butch Thompson, Auburn University, Head Baseball Coach, College World Series)

“Tim Fanning, one of the great young high school baseball coaches in America today, has hit a “Homerun ” with his book, Serve To Lead 2. Outlining his “Life Lessons” intertwined with his own serious life threatening health issues, he has created an honest look at what really matters in the life of a coach. His faith in GOD, love of family, love of extended family of players and his community shines throughout. The old adage of “one good service to others returns 10 fold” is vivid! He has served many! May GOD continue to Bless him and his extended families! Thanks, Coach Tim! (Gene Stephenson, 3rd Winningest Coach in NCAA DI History, College World Series- 7 times, Wichita State University)
